The deadline to apply for May 2020 graduation is Wednesday, February 12, 2020. Both undergraduate and graduate candidates, follow these steps to apply for graduation.
The Commencement Fair will be held at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore at the Popp Martin Student Union on Wednesday, April 1 through Friday, April 3 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Don't forget to bring your UNC Charlotte student ID. If you do not have a student ID, you may bring a government-issued photo ID and know your 800#.
You can pick up your cap & gown beginning Wednesday, April 1 at the Commencement Fair. The deadline to pick up your cap and gown is Monday, April 27. After the April 27 deadline, sizes are not guaranteed. Bring your UNC Charlotte student ID. If you do not have a student ID, you may bring a government-issued photo ID and know your 800#.
Your guests will need a ticket for admission to Dale F. Halton Arena. Graduating students will not need a ticket. E-tickets must be reserved for your guests beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 1 and ending at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 21.
You will receive a link through your uncc.edu account in March to record your name and add a phonetic spelling. This will assist the ceremony leader who will be pronouncing your name. The deadline to record your name is Monday, April 6.
Tickets must be printed to enter the Dale F. Halton Arena. Mobile tickets will not be accepted. Each ticket has a unique bar code and cannot be duplicated for admittance. Please make sure your tickets are printed prior to the ceremony.
GradImages is the official photographer for Commencement. Pre-register now and save 20% The deadline to pre-register for the discounted rate is 24 hours prior to the start of the ceremony. Three photos will be taken of each student during Commencement: one prior to walking on stage, one on stage shaking hands, and one after exiting the stage. Proofs will be emailed to each student's UNC Charlotte email address a few days after the ceremony and will be available to purchase.
The Office of the Registrar (email@example.com) will email your row assignment and other information a day or two prior to the ceremony. Please note, there is no commencement rehearsal for undergraduate, master's or graduate certificate candidates. The Graduate School will email doctoral candidates with ceremony instructions.
Spring 2020 commencement ceremonies are on May 8 and 9. Plan to arrive 90 minutes prior to the start of your ceremony. Graduates will line up in the practice gym located on the ground level of the Barnhardt Student Activity Center (SAC). You may enter the building from the lower level ATAC entrances - the SAC entrances closest to the College of Education building or near Woodward Hall. Signs will be posted. All students must bring a valid UNC Charlotte ID or a government-issued photo ID and their UNC Charlotte ID number to participate in commencement. Leave all bags with your guests! For your safety, metal detectors and bag checks will be conducted at entry points.
Remember that diplomas will not be distributed at the Commencement ceremony. They will be mailed to graduates six to eight weeks after commencement to the diploma address provided on the application for degree, as long as there are no financial holds on your account. College receptions for graduates and their guests will take place immediately following the ceremony.
Traffic leaving campus will be extremely heavy. Please be advised that the route you traveled to enter the campus may not be the same one you are required to exit on.
